At last the new season starts for Süperstar Orkestar. Saturday 24th of August we play at Poland coolest worldmuisc festival dedicated mostly to music from the Balkans.

Motala Culture Night Saturday 29/10
At last we’re back in Motala, where we had such a good time last time. This time is also going to be massive.
We start off with repetitions together with Motala World Orchestra and students from the Culture School.
In the evening we play two concerts at People’s House (Folkets Hus). First one with Motala World Orchestra and the Culture School. Then one on our own.
Motala Culture Night has an incredibly large and varied program of concerts, exhibitions and activities - check out the homepage. Everyone who is in Motala this day will experience a lot.

As many who are interested in science fiction art have noted, our tenor tuba player Anton Grandert has been working intensely with Lucasfilm the last years, as one of the artists on the team making the new Star Wars TV series. Now, that work is taking up so much time that he doesn’t have time to play with us (Though he might turn up as stand in, sometimes.).
We’re happy anyway, because we have found the perfect tenor tuba player to replace him.
Mikko Iskanius is not only a brilliant tenor tuba player. He is a multiistrumentalist, performs extreme sports, teaches, is allround extremelely talented and a very nice person. Come and see for yourself on one of our gigs!

Intense autumn
This is going to be our most intense autumn ever. At the same time as we're playing, often, several concerts in the weekends, we're continuing playing conserts in schoolyards. We also start up projects to get children to play wind instruments. During the fall we will also develop our repertoire with inspiration from our trip to Serbia.

The energetic Swedish Balkan brass band Süperstar Orkestar releases a new mini-album after their latest acclaimed album ”Hope” (2020).
That album consisted mostly of new original material. This time the band has ventured on a different project.
The new album contains five traditional trubaci (Balkan brass) tunes which the band has heard with Roma brass bands like Orkestar Cobra, Orkestar Dejan Avdic and other fantastic Roma bands from southern Serbia, where this tradition is strongest.
These are bands that thrive outside of the limelight of the big stages. They continue to develop the genre and have the depth of this rich tradition in their music.
The album was recorded during an intense weekend in Stockholm in the fall of 2021, by Jonas Jersild who also has mixed the album. He is the favourite producer of Süperstar Orkestar and has been working with them on their latest albums.
”Süper Shock!” is released on the fourth of february 2022.

Our new album is released digitally on 6/11. It contains mostly tunes composed by Håkan Säfvestad.
The material has a great range stylistically and emotionally and the sound is a little different.
The album includes also Zajdi Zajdi and a tune by Jonas Jersild, plus a version of Gotye’s ”Somebody That I used To know”.

Haninge kommun has hired us for some concerts. Time and place are secret.

Our new fantastic album, Hope is ready to be released. A few details is going to be fixed this week.
Our next gig at Debaser is planned 27/8 2021. We hope the world is ready for a great party then. We will certainly be.

It’s really going to be something else. Keep your eyes and ears open.
The album will be released by the end of the summer. We hope to be able to have a great release party. If not we’ll celebrate on distance.

New album, cancelled gigs, new exciting music
We release a new album
Our new album that is going to be released this summer is almost compleated. We really happy about this.
It consists mostly of original compositions by our own Håkan Säfvestad. It also contains a Balkan classic and a pop hit, that we like a lot.
There’s a wide range of styles from crazy dance tunes and groovy coceks to a beautiful ballad in 11/8.
We’re very proud and happy to be able to present this.
Cancelled gigs - Record Sale!
Due to the corona pandemic all events are cancelled right now. This is very tough for us like it is for so many others. We hope that the situation will improve soon. While waiting and hopeing, we’re trying to check out new repertoire and keeping our spirits up.

We’d like to wish all our friends and all lovers of Balkan music a good stort of the twenties. The world still has a lot of problems to solve but for us the year starts off really nicely with many great gigs and plans.

The spring looks very good to us. Much things are happening and we’re looking forward to play. We’ve already booked a couple of really good concerts.

Saturday 9/5 we play in Malmö. It’s the first time since 2012 when we played there with Ferus Mustafov. The concert is at Casino Cosmopol in Malmö.
